STRATA SYNOPSIS.
When the body of her fiancé turns up, shot at the back of his head indicating that he did not struggle but let it happen, Jasmine, who is of mixed race vows to find his killer at the cost of her life.

By going up against KUSH, a corrupt police officer who is obsessed with her, and a whole lot of people who are convinced that his death is for the better, she has to come face to face with the reality that ZEAL, the man she loved led a double and dangerous life.

Give me Back My Home

Zippy Kimundu, an Independent Filmmaker takes us on her journey back to 'Burnt Forest' where her family home was Burnt in 1992 during the Tribal Clashes that broke out in Kenya after the onset of multi-partysim. She was inspired to go back after making her Short Fiction Film - "Burnt Forest", after 19 years of contemplations.

The First Grader

The First Grader, based on a true story, is set in a remote primary school in the Kenyan bush where hundreds of children are jostling for a chance for the free education promised by the new Kenyan government. One new applicant causes astonishment when he knocks on the door of the school. He is Maruge, an old Mau Mau veteran in his eighties, who is desperate to learn to read at this late stage of his life. He fought for the liberation of his country and now feels he must have the chance of an education so long denied - even if it means sitting in a classroom alongside six-year-olds.

Yellow Fever

I am interested in the concept of skin and race, and what they imply; in the ideas and theories sown into our flesh that change with the arc of time. The idea of beauty has become globalised, creating homogenous aspirations, and distorting people’s self-image across the planet. In my film, I focus on African women’s self-image, through memories and interviews; using mixed media to describe this almost schizophrenic self-visualization that I and many others have grown up with.

Main actor is an European doctor working as a volunteer in the slum, who is approached by a young girl slum dweller who was impregnated by her brother through their mother encouragement to sleep together in fear of catching aids from other non-family slum dwellers.
