Africa Film Academy and African Movie Academy Awards in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture National Council for Arts & Culture, The Gambia, is about to set up a strong and vibrant film industry. Chairman of the Board, National Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Francis Litti Mboge has been travelling round the African continent, building up contacts and interacting with film practitioners, especially in Nollywood.
“The industry we are about to build is for the development and promotion of The Gambian youth and culture,” he says. “It is for the overall promotion and development of the Film Industry in The Gambia, develop knowledge and create commerce and employment for the extremely talented youths in The Gambia by giving them an opportunity to work in the multi-billion dollar industry, and last but not least promote as well as preserve our cultural heritage through image for posterity. This would have a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of The Gambia.”
It is hope that the filmmaking workshops instigated by himself and the CEO of African Movie Academy Awards, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe will instill enough training in youths of The Gambia to venture into filmmaking with so much passion to achieve the best.
